Deoxygenation of the Baltic Sea during the last millennium

چکیده
Over the last 1,000 years, changing climate strongly influenced ecosystem of coastal oceans such as Baltic Sea. Sedimentary records revealed that temperatures could be linked to oxygen levels, spreading anoxic, oxygen-free areas in However, attribution levels remains challenging. This work simulates a preindustrial period 850 covering Medieval Climate Anomaly (MCA) and Little Ice Age using coupled physical-biogeochemical model. We conduct set sensitivity studies allow us disentangle contributions different biogeochemical processes increasing hypoxia during millennium. find temperature-dependent mineralization rate is key process contributing formation MCA. Faster enhances vertical phosphorus flux leading higher primary production. Our results question hypothesis increased cyanobacteria blooms are reason for Sea Moreover, strong contribution suggests role current projections should revisited.

Deoxygenation of the Baltic Sea during the last century.
Deoxygenation is a global problem in coastal and open regions of the ocean, and has led to expanding areas of oxygen minimum zones and coastal hypoxia. The recent expansion of hypoxia in coastal ecosystems has been primarily attributed to global warming and enhanced nutrient input from land and atmosphere. The largest anthropogenically induced hypoxic area in the world is the Baltic Sea, where ...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
the effect of e-64 on the developmental competence of sheep cocs during in vitro maturation
in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.
Atlantic hurricane activity during the last millennium
Hurricanes are a persistent socio-economic hazard for countries situated in and around the Main Development Region (MDR) of Atlantic tropical cyclones. Climate-model simulations have attributed their interdecadal variability to changes in solar and volcanic activity, Saharan dust flux, anthropogenic greenhouse gas and aerosol emissions and heat transport within the global ocean conveyor belt. H...
